My name is Delia. I was born as Matthew.
I awoke to my womanhood the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once.
All of my life, I have felt to some degree that I am in the wrong body. I have always felt like a woman trapped in a male body, and that feeling has grown stronger and stronger, until now, I have finally overcome my fears, and accepted my identity.
I am now 26, and I wish I had come to this acceptance so much sooner. I am a woman, and I need to be able to be just that. I often also wonder how many go through the same struggle, and if they ever get the help and support they need.
This donations to this fundraiser will be used to pay for my transition, which I will also chronicle on tumblr and YouTube in the hopes that it will help other young trans people around the world.
Once I am transitioned, I plan to model, and give back by helping to spread awareness for the trans community, and dispel the negative myths and stereotypes that have come to define us in so many peoples minds. I intend to make myself as accessible as possible through YouTube, tumblr, Facebook, and other sites. I want to be there for young trans people who are struggling with their identity in any way I can. I want to be an inspiration, an ear to listen, and a shoulder to cry on.
I do unfortunately suffer from borderline personality disorder (professionally diagnosed) and laryngopharyngeal reflux, which causes me to have uncontrollable gagging fits several times a day. This has made it unduly hard for me to find and keep work, so I am unemployed and uninsured. I come from a lower middle class family who cannot afford to help me past letting me sleep on their couch and keeping me fed and letting me use my little brothers bicycle when I need to go anywhere. Even if I were employed, I've estimated that it may take me till 40 to even be able to begin my transition without assistance, and many insurances only cover the bare basics of a transition if even that.
I plan for my transition to include HRT, vaginoplasty, electrolysis, breast augmentation, larynx cartilage reduction, and facial feminization surgeries.
no donation is too small if enough people are willing to help. If you support the trans community, and the advancement and equality of transgendered individuals, I ask that you please support me by donating so that I may carry out my dream of shattering stereotypes and showing trans people that they can be everything they dream of.
If the funds I recieve are more than enough to cover the procedures outlined above, the remainder will be donated to other trans people in need.
