The detail is lovely and the watercolour paper gives it a nice underneath texture, particularly on the background.

My critique though would be that her face seems a little, I don't know, odd given the perspective. It's clear from the shape and angle of her nose, mouth and eyes that she's supposed to have her chin up so that we're looking at her face from slightly below, but her forehead looks a little long for that angle. That should be really easy to rectify though.

Actually, now that you've showed me the photo you've not done a bad job on the forehead. The angle still seems a little off somehow, but I can't put my finger on quite why.

She is indeed. The texture of the watercolour paper would probably get in the way of any softening. What border are you referring to?

part of it might be that I changed the angle the face is being held at. In the photo she's looking more straight on, and in the image she is looking more to her left (picture's right)
